This week’s vehicle is the 1962 Jeep Gladiator. We’re officially into a new decade – the 1960s – in our weekly Heritage Fridays blog series. To celebrate that, this week’s vehicle focus is on the Jeep Gladiator, the completely new “J” line of trucks that were introduced for the 1963 model year. 1962 Jeep Gladiator The Jeep Gladiator was nothing if not versatile, thanks to its range of available configurations. The full-size pickup truck shared the same platform, front end, and powertrain as the vaunted Jeep Wagoneer. The 120-inch J-200 or the 126-inch J-300 versions came with either RWD or 4WD and a solid front axle or independent front suspension with optional dual rear wheels.
