4×4 Trails Near Olympia for Every Experience Level

I f you’ve never been out in a four-wheeler before, Ryan Weisenfeld has some advice: go with someone who has. The sales representative for  Olympia Chrysler Jeep  is a member of the Capitol City Crawlers, a group of 4 x 4 enthusiasts that routinely takes beginners out for a spin. “We help people get used to it,” says Weisenfeld. “You really need to go with someone who has experience when it’s your first time.” The area surrounding Thurston County includes several great tracks for 4 x 4s, ranging from relatively easy to quite challenging. For those just starting out, he recommends Tuhuya ORV Park near Belfair. Comprised of 23,000 acres in Mason County, Tuhuya has 84 miles of trails available and makes an ideal place to learn. “That’s where we go when we take customers on runs,” says Weisenfeld. “There are bypasses for every obstacle and a lot of people go there just to observe.” All vehicles will require a Discover Pass. Located near Buckley, Evans Creek ORV  offers 4...

Jeep® Wrangler Sport Takes the Cake

Image
At the 46th Annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari, Jeep® Blog learned what “capability” really means. A stock, manual transmission 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport crawled and navigated some of the toughest events that Moab has to offer. Tall ledges? Big ridges? No problem.  The stock Sport performed like a champion . While handily maneuvering all types of rugged terrain in Moab, Jim Repp, Jeep Brand engineer, explained to Jeep Blog what makes the stock Jeep Wrangler Sport off-road ready. “Having a car with lockers and a 4:1 [low-gear ratio] makes the driving experience a little different, but the reality is that the basic stuff is in the Wrangler Sport,” Repp explained. “The capability is there – the ground clearance, the approach and departure angles, and the articulation – it’s all there.” “We joke in engineering that the Wrangler is the cake and a vehicle like the Rubicon is the icing on the cake,” said Repp. In a Jeep Wrangler Sport, “the cake is there – all the ingredients ar...
